The Purpose of United Methodist Women
The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
The Women's Groups are the backbone of our church. These women give generously of their time to care for people in our church and community. At Cashion United Methodist Church we have two United Methodist Women’s Groups, UMW Circle One and UMW Circle Too. We welcome new members at any time, and we would love to have you join us in service.
UMW Circle One - Meetings are daytimes, on the second Thursday of each month. We review books, have Bible studies, and fellowship together. We hold occasional fundraisers (usually bake sales) so that we can contribute to various causes.
A few of the accomplishments from our groups are:
·We contribute money each year to the United Methodist District UMW fund and United Methodist Circle of Care.
·We hold a Senior lunch each year for Cashion’s graduating class.
·We purchased and provided new table linens for our church’s formal functions in 2006.
·We provide school supplies and backpacks for kids in need in Cashion and some of our surrounding schools.
·We granted a $250 scholarship to a deserving Cashion high school senior in 2006.
·We prepare and deliver care packages of teas, cups, snacks, etc. each Christmas to elderly members of the community in nursing homes.
·We organize a Christmas Angel Tree and give care bags to people each December.
·We cook meals for people who have need.
